Do you TRUST Jesus to meet all your needs? Mark 6:30-43
We are blessed to live in a day and age where we have access and an abundance of options when it comes to food, clothing, housing, etc.
In Mark 6 we see how a crowd follows Jesus, they come to a point in their journey where there is no more food. However, Jesus already has the solution. He asks the disciples how much they have. Obviously, Jesus knew what they had available but He wanted to see what the disciples reaction would be. Immediately it was one of lack, as they felt it would be best to send the crowd away to find their own food.
As we read the gospel of Luke, specifically in chapters 8, 17, 18, Jesus repeats “your faith has made you well” when He heals the woman with the issue of blood, the leper, and the blind beggar.
We always have a choice, we can come to Jesus with our needs as those did in the gospels and truly believe that He is the God of abundance and provision, able and willing to meet every need we have. Or, we can look to our circumstances, bodies, etc and let that be the ruler.
Our faith in Him and who He is, opens the door of opportunity for us to be made well in each situation we are confronted with. Will we take Him at His word?
As I share, this is something the Lord has been stretching me in daily, and I believe for most Christians it may look the same too. Each day is a walk of faith, the opportunity to trust Him more.
It says in Philippians 4:19 that God supplies all of our needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
And in Matthew 6:25-27; Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?
When Jesus tells us not to worry it’s not because He isn’t concerned, He has the provision but can we allow ourselves to be present and aware to what He wants to teach us in that moment. We may not get what we need immediately, but we can trust that He is working and refining us in the process.
As we read on in Mark, Jesus prayed to the Father and the loaves and fishes were multiplied. Not only did they eat but they all ate and were satisfied (Mark 6:42). In the Greek, they are filled to the full. Complete satisfaction.
We all have needs, we live in an imperfect world. But because we have Jesus we can rely on Him to meet every one. Of course there is natural provision, when we’re hungry or tired our bodies need food. But, when we are craving more, Jesus is the one to bring true satisfaction to the longings of our soul.
Is there an area of need that you’ve been withholding or not sharing with the Lord or even others? Bring that need to Him today and rest. Believe that it is already met.
